This calendar application was developed after using other calendar apps/tags.  This application was developed for my personal website and does exactly what I needed, performs easily and is a powerful small application.

It allows for a single administrator or more to manage the events calendar.  Visitors to the site can submit or suggest an event and must be approved by the admin.

The administrator(s) receive an email notification that a new event has been submitted/suggested.  By following the URL inside the email, the administrator(s) will have to authenticate to the control panel in order to approve the event.

Visitors to the site also have the option of subscribing to the "Events Notification" list which they can remove themselves from at anytime.  Visitors who signup will also have to acknowledge an email sent to their email address they signed up with.

The administrator(s) have full control over all events via the admin section.  This is my first attempt at an application like this one and will be modifying it / tweaking it over the next several months.

Works on 6.1 very  nicely.  We will be providing some updates in the next few months.  Support is not provided but we will answer any questions you have.  This is my first tag and is operational.  I'm still working on some changes and the addition of an application.cfm. 

Update: the demo link has some changes to it from the original version.  It is a live demo on how it looks. from the front end. Please do not abuse it. The original version used many many popups which we did away with.  Monthly events are displayed in an abbreviated format also.  We cleaned up the look also.
